“I didn’t feel comfortable dealing with the contractor anymore.”How Chris at HULKS stepped in to represent Emma, take over the difficult conversations and help get her landscaping project completed.
When Emma Jones from Harpenden first contacted Chris at HULKS, she was extremely worried about a landscaping project at her home.
She had appointed a landscaping company and had already paid a significant amount of money. But as the project progressed, Emma became increasingly concerned that the work wasn’t being completed as discussed or within the expected timeframe.
Communication had also become difficult.
Emma felt intimidated by the company’s male owner and no longer felt comfortable handling the situation herself.
A Difficult Situation
Emma was in a difficult position. She had paid for work that remained unfinished, but communication with the landscaping company had broken down. She wanted the project completed without the situation becoming more stressful or confrontational.
Emma’s First Call to Chris
Emma initially contacted Chris at HULKS for advice. Chris listened, talked through what had happened and offered some initial guidance at no charge, giving Emma a clearer idea of how she might approach the situation herself.
Unfortunately, the situation didn’t improve. Emma returned to HULKS because she needed more than advice — she needed someone experienced to step in and represent her interests.
Chris Becomes Emma’s Construction Advocate
Chris became Emma’s independent Construction Advocate and took over communication with the landscaping company. He worked through the outstanding issues, established what needed to happen and focused conversations on getting the project completed.
The aim wasn’t to create conflict. It was to remove the emotion, restore communication and find a practical way forward. Chris provided an experienced, calm voice between both sides and helped keep the focus on resolving the problem.
The Outcome
The landscaping project was completed without Emma needing to deal directly with the company again. What had been heading towards potential legal action was resolved through communication, negotiation and a focus on completing the work.
